Research Interests
Marine and atmospheric biogeochemistry
- cycling of reduced nitrogen compounds in surface seawater
- interactions between DMS and ammonia in the atmosphere
air-sea exchange of biogenic soluble trace gases
- ammonia, alkyl nitrates (RONO2), formaldehyde, methanol, HCN etc.
science coordination
- the web as a tool for scientific communication and collaboration (author of ResearchPages ).
Current work
- Developing a integrated suite of fluorimetric methods for quantifying reduced nitrogen compounds in seawater (with Hannah Southon, Nuffield Undergraduate Bursary student).
- Developing a nutrient scheme for the ADAM model.
- Developing a super-sensitive (sub nM) fluorimetric method for the detection of silicate in rock weathering experiments (with Mike Crouch , Masters Student).
