My Research

Wade McGillis is currently Doherty Scientist at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and Associate Professor of Earth and Environmental Engineering at Columbia University. Dedicated to interdisciplinary environmental science and engineering; his research focuses on understanding surface processes and the coupling between aqueous and atmospheric systems, in particular, the role of air-sea CO2 exchange on local and global carbon cycles.

He was previously an Associate Scientist in the Applied Ocean Physics and Engineering Department at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. He holds a BSc in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University, and an MSc and PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.

He is currently Chair of the United States Surface Ocean Lower Atmospheric Study; a member of the World Climate Research Program – Working Group on Fluxes; the Geochemistry Division at Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory, and Associate Editor of the Journal of Geophysical Research.
