About Me

Research Interests

Oceanic and atmospheric chemistry; biogeochemical cycles of nitrogen and sulphur; air-sea flux of soluble biogenic gases.

Biography

Having graduated from UEA with a BSc in Environmental Sciences, I then progressed to a Ph.D., which focussed on measurements of dimethylsulphide (DMS) and ammonia (NH3) in remote regions as part of the Atlantic Meridional Transect (AMT) programme. This was supervised by Gill Malin, Tim Jickells, Alex Baker and Peter Liss at UEA and was completed in 2006.

After my PhD I worked for four years on a knowledge transfer project tied to the Surface-Ocean Lower-Atmosphere Study (SOLAS). The aim of this was to produce global-scale air-sea gas flux products. For more information on this project, please see the SOLAS Project Integration webpage.

I am now based at the University of California, Irvine, working with Prof. Eric Saltzman to make direct eddy covariance measurements of DMS sea-to-air gas flux using Chemical Ionisation Mass Spectrometry (CIMS).
