Melissa's Profile
About me
I am a post-doctoral associate on the NPP Fellowship through the NASA Astrobiology Institute. I am currently working on a laboratory study examining potential ice structures on Mars as potential sources or sinks for CH4 molecules. I got my Ph.D. in the Chemistry Department at CU studying the formation of organic haze aerosols in simulated atmospheres of Early Earth and Titan. My Ph.D. advisor is Margaret Tolbert and my post-doc advisor is Brian Toon, with multiple collaborations throughout my career.
Involvement in Astrobiology
I am a former co-organizer of AbGradCon (2007, San Juan Puerto Rico):

I am a current co-organizer for the Astrobiology Seminar Series at the University of Colorado:

Future Plans?
I'm eventually hoping to look for a faculty position in Chemistry, with an interesting on expanding upon my thesis work of generating organic haze particles and studying their chemical behaviors in planetary environments. Particularly I am interested in looking at abiotic organic production on the Early Earth. Just for fun, here's my CV.
