Research Profile

Georgia Bayliss-Brown received her B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia, UK, specializing in Meteorology, Palaeoclimatology, Fluid Mechanics and Earth Systems.

She is currently working as International SOLAS Project Officer for the International Surface Ocean-Lower Atmosphere Study (SOLAS) Project, with Dr Emily Bréviere (International SOLAS Executive Officer) and Dr Phil Williamson (UK SOLAS Science Coordinator/Oceans 2025).

Her work concentrates on a plethora of communicative fields: organizing both national and international conferences, summer schools and workshops; formulating the monthly e-bulletins; collating the biannual SOLAS newsletter; and, most recently, working with Dr Tom Bell to gather metadata files for input onto NASA’s Global Change Master Directory (http://gcmd.nasa.gov/) under the SOLAS Project Assimilation agenda (http://www.bodc.ac.uk/solas_integration/). Another perspective of the work includes keeping up-to-date with all national projects, publications and, especially UK-based, research within the fields of the whole SOLAS community.

Georgia is interested in all aspects of atmospheric and oceanic science especially that of modeling its processes to gain understanding of future climate change.

In her spare time Georgia is fascinated by sustainable agriculture and rural development.

Her favourite celebrity is Hugh Fearney-Whittingstall.
Her favourite animal is a red deer.
