PhD studentship
I’m working on a PhD on digital communications over HF radio in the polar regions. This is a NERC-funded studentship, in conjunction with the Department of Engineering at the University of Leicester. My supervisors are Mike Rose (BAS), Mike Pinnock (BAS), Chris Hill (BAS) and Mike Warrington (Leicester).
Other interests
In a previous job I worked for the BBC‘s Research & Development department (now rebranded as “BBC Research”) on variety of different broadcast technologies, including video coding, 3D modelling of live action from multiple camera angles and digital HF broadcasting using Digital Radio Mondiale.
I also worked for BAS from 2005 until early 2007 as Communications Manager at Rothera Research Station, which involved spending 18 months continuously in Antarctica.
