I am undertaking an ESRC/MRC funded PhD looking at the effects of the school environment on child Body Mass Index. My work is being supervised by Graham Bentham, Andy Jones, Aedin Cassidy (MED) and Simon Griffin (MRC Epidemiology Unit, Cambridge).

My PhD is linked to an NPRI funded project investigating environmental and social influences on physical activity. While the focus of the main study is physical actvity in children and adults, my work is looking at child body composition. I am particularly interested in the impact the school environment, including the policy and physical environment of the school and surrounds, has on child body mass.

Prior to starting my PhD I worked as a researcher at UEA on a project investigating environmental influences on cryptosporidiosis in England and Wales.
