Multi-Model analysis - MOE-S5
MOE-S5
Funded by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment, “S5” is a large project (running from April 2007 – March 2012) which starts where the climate modelling leaves off. Its remit ranges from evaluation of model output, assessing model uncertainty, impacts on ecosystems, through to soceital impacts of climate change. Our work here involves assessing uncertainty in the physical models on the 30y-100y timescale. As the project progresses more information will be added here.
Multi-model analysis
Output from the AR4 “ensemble of opportunity” provides a valuable resource for predicting climate change, as we already know that the models cover the reasonable range of responses to anthropogenic forcing on the global scale, and they include a much broader range of physically plausible descriptions of the Earth's climate system than can be achieved by merely perturbing parameters in a single model. We intend to use this ensemble to create credible regional-scale predictions of climate change for use in impact/adaptation/mitigation studies.
