Research Profile

I graduated in Environmental Engineering at the University of Applied Science Weihenstephan-Triesdorf, where I did my diploma thesis studying the element composition of the Antarctic aerosol from the German Antarctic research station, the Neumayer station.
Currently, I am completing my PhD in Environmental Science at the University of East Anglia. For my project, I investigated the chemical and photochemical production of volatile organic halocarbons like methyl iodide and diiodomethane in the surface ocean and I studied factors influencing their flux to the atmosphere like bubbles and surfactants. My supervisors are Peter Liss and Manuela Martino. My work has been funded by the EU project MAP.
Besides, I now started a Post-Doctorate Position at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research GmbH – UFZ in the Environmental Radioactivity Group, where I am developing an in-situ sampling device for the continuous measurement of radon in surface and groundwater to improve the applicability of radon as environmental tracer for flow and mixing processes.

Research Interest

I am interested in the cycling and the distribution of trace elements and gases in the environment and their use for investigating and understanding environmental processes.
