Research Interests and Objectives
I am currently employed at the Institute of Arctic Biology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks as a Research Technician where I have been actively involved in the design, construction and maintenance of micrometeorological stations on the North Slope of Alaska and in Cherskii, Russia. Upon the completion of my Master of Science degree at the Centre for Earth Observation Science at the University of Manitoba, it is my intention to continue my career in the polar sciences where I will be able to actively participate in current research. My experience has given me a high degree of familiarity with current research and issues concerning Arctic geomorphology, hydrology, oceanography and meteorology. In addition, I have gained a great deal of practical experience working in Arctic marine, coastal and terrestrial environments that I would like to apply to a technical or research oriented position in either the Arctic or the Antarctic. In the future, I would like to begin a PhD at an appropriate institution where I can investigate the linkages between climate change, polar geomorphology, trace gas emissions and hydrology in high latitude environments. As well, I have a strong interest in climate change adaptation, education and public policy that I may consider as a career objective after the completion of a PhD.
