UKCA
UKCA is a joint project of the National Centre for Atmospheric Science and the Met Office to develop a new community aerosol-chemistry climate model. Initiating project partners are the Hadley Centre and the Universities of Cambridge and Leeds. Our objective is to build, evaluate and make available a new UK community atmospheric chemistry-aerosol model suitable for a range of topics in climate and environmental change research.
Leeds’ task in UKCA is to develop a new aerosol microphysics and chemistry module, GLOMAP-mode. Initial model development is being carried out inside the TOMCAT chemical transport model to allow easy evaluation against observations and the more complete GLOMAP-bin model.
