14 May 08: EUFAR funding for Arctic aerosol flights
Steve Arnold, Francois Benduhn and Sarah Monks were successful with a proposal to EUFAR for flight hours during the July POLARCAT campaign. They will join the campaign at Kangerlussuaq in Greenland in July and have access to the French ATR aircraft for 6 hours of flying. Our objectives are to characterise the ageing of aerosol plumes transported to the Arctic. Our paper on Arctic aerosol by Korhonen et al. shows how difficult it is to get the aerosol transport right in a model like GLOMAP. We will be doing some GLOMAP near real time runs for the campaign period.
