PhD - 'The Virtual Prokaryote'
I am a PhD student working in evolutionary biology now. My project aims at building a model of interactions between an evolving community of prokaryotes and their environment. The goal is to simulate the evolution of the genome of an autotrophic prokaryote. The main focus of this work is investigating possible reasons why some of the marine algae genomes are strongly streamlined and others are not (see the poster and the ESEB congress talk).I am currently supervised by Dr Thomas Mock and Dr Cock Van Oosterhout. I also worked with Dr Hywel Williams and Professor Tim Lenton.
